A Series of Images

“The following galleries show the step-by-step development and fabrication of a few unique projects I created.”

Collapse and Overhaul

The first gallery is of two large public art sculptures I made for fire stations 46 and 47 in the City of Ottawa. These artworks were created with a 100-year-old water tank, melted and recycled firefighting equipment, and old farm machinery. Collapse and Overhaul were created in 2013.

IridiumNext Satellite

The second gallery is of a project I created for Iridium Satellite Inc. in 2015. After sending me a large quantity of obsolete satellite communications equipment I decided to ‘mine’ the material for cast-able metals. I then used the aluminum and copper to cast details creating eight desktop miniatures of the IridiumNext Satellite flying over the Earth.

The Deep

The third gallery are photos of my process during the creation of The Deep in 2017. This octopus sculpture was made for a Steampunk show at Gallerie MontCalm in Gatineau, Québec. This sculpture was challenging as it required me to forge and assemble many pieces of steel (45 pieces alone for the head!) to create a smooth skin for the head and eight fluid tentacles. Under the glass and inside the head is a dense collection of rusty gears creating a machine like interior. This area is lit up by an LED light”
